PiMPStreamer Pimpware.org
Since there seems to be so many people asking about this, I made a tutorial. I'm sure its not the
best but it works. There are Troubleshooting Tips at the end if you are still having issues.
I am currently going through this tutorial to make updates, revisions, and a new video at the bottom. If you are using PiMPStreamer v1.0 and go through this tutorial and come across something that isn't abruptly clear or doesn't make sense, please email me about it. Thanks

COMPATIBILITY
^Hopefully this will clear up all the questions...^
Don't ask me what the difference between Stream and Stream+ is because
I don't really know...

If you have any Questions, please Email me at aking94597@yahoo.com with the title "PIMPStreamer" so I do not delete it.
Download PSPHost Here( This isn't necessary if you are using version .90 or above )
Make sure you have PIMPStremer version .62.(...If you are using an eLoader. If you are running 1.50 or 2.71 SE/3.XX OE/M33, feel free to use any version you would like. ) If not, Delete what you've got and download it Here ( newest version 1.0 ) ALSO make sure you have edited the pmp.ini in the PIMPSTREMER Folder on your PSP with you PC's correct IP Address. i.e. (if you have the newest version of PiMPstreamer, you have to run pspinstall.exe and get the .ini from your GAME150 folder after it is installed. Put the .ini in your PiMPStreamerSUB folder on your PSP.)
[stream]
con = 1;
enabled = 1;
uri = 192.168.1.41:3333;
debug = 0;
(eLoader and 2.71SE version of psp.ini shown above. If you use the PiMPStreamer .msi installer, it should do this for you. I always check to make sure it is right, though. Plus, you may want to change your Public IP in case you use Hamachi. )
[stream]
debug=0
pimpserver_1 = 192.168.2.77:3333;
pimpserver_2 = 5.65.50.20:3333;
(3.XX OE version of psp.ini shown above. If you use the PiMPStreamer .msi installer, it
should do this for you. I always check to make sure it is right,
though. Plus, you may want to change your Public IP in case you use
Hamachi. )
Change what is in bold to you computers IP Address. Do NOT make it your Gateway IP i.e. 192.168.1.1 or 66.xxx.xxx.xxx ((unless you want that to be your second IP for when you are on the go))

Extract the Windoze folder to yor desktop. Now go into the Windoze/PiMPStreamer folder and open the PimpStreamer.ini file. Here's what it should look like (The newest version requires you to make your own folder for the Windoze/PiMPStreamer components. Just copy/paste everything from the zip into your new folder) The .msi also does this step for you.
[StreamSettings]
nmoviepaths=1
moviepath_1=d:\Movies <-- Change this to the directory where the movie you would like to watch is.
movieBitrate=600
audioBitrate=128
frameRateDivider=1.500000
serverPort=3333 <-- Make sure this is the port you are using. It should match what you have in your pmp.ini
extensionList=AVI,M4V,VOB,MP4,MPG,MPEG,MP3,WMV,ASF,MOV
nrssfeeds=1
ninfinitestreams=0
shownoaudiomovie=1
moviepath_2=R:\ <-- Here are two more directories that are optional to set
moviepath_3=R:\
rssfeed_1=http://feeds.feedburner.com/PspHacking101-VidCast <- You can add feeds here if you like. ie
rssfeed_2=http://feeds.feedburner.com/geekspeakradio

Start PSPHost and it should make a little icon in you system bar.(You know, where it says the time) Click it and Hit Settings. Check enable WiFi at start, then close the window and click the icon once again. Hit Enable WiFi. (You don't need to do this if you aren't using an eloader) Now start PIMPStremer.exe (Located in C:\Program Files\PiMPWare\PiMPStreamer folder) and set the directory for your movies. Minimize the window. Now start PiMPStreamer on your PSP. It should connect.
It should load the list of directories that you set. Navigate through the folders and find a movie. Hit X to play the movie. It will load for 4 to 10 seconds depending on how big the movie is and how good your connection is.
To Change the Port that PiMPStreamer runs on -
Open your PIMPStreamer.ini. It should look like this-
[StreamSettings]
nmoviepaths=2
moviepath_1=C:\
movieBitrate=400
audioBitrate=128
frameRateDivider=1.250000
serverPort=3333 <-- That is the port, change it to what you wish.
extensionList=AVI,M4V,VOB,MP4,MPG,MPEG,MP3,WMV,ASF,MOV
nrssfeeds=1
ninfinitestreams=0
shownoaudiomovie=1
moviepath_2=C:\Fraps
moviepath_3=R:\
rssfeed_1=http://feeds.feedburner.com/PspHacking101-VidCastN
Now open the pmp.ini in the pimpstreamer folder on your PSP. It should look like this -
[stream]
con = 1;
enabled = 1;
uri = 192.168.1.41:3333<-- now change that to what you put in the PIMPStreamer.ini
debug = 0;
If your having problems with the PSP app, here are 16 possible solutions-
1.Copy/Paste the output.avi from the PiMPStreamer folder to ms0:\PSP\VIDEO. Create the folder if it does not already exist.
2. Open Notepad, don't type anything, just click file-Save as. name it anything and save it with the extension of .pmp. put this file in mso:\PSP\VIDEO. (You don't need to do this if you aren't using an eloader)
3. Forward port 3333 (Or whatever port you set) to your computer's IP Address. For help on this visit PortForward.com
4. Make sure the movie you are trying to play is on the extension list in your PiMPStreamer.ini file. Sometimes you can add the extension you are trying to play but there is no geruntee that it will play.
5. If you can't get past connection state 2 of 4, make sure your Address setting is on Easy so it Obtains the IP Address for the PSP From your router automatically. (Newer versions of PiMPStreamer no longer require this)
6. LAG FIX-If you are running a 1.5 PSP, you can reduce choppiness by turning up your CPU speed in IRShell.
7. If you have flashed a 1.50 wlan.prx, you will not be able to get past connection state 2 of four in any homebrew game including PiMPStreamer. Get the 2.60 firmware dump from PSP-Hacks and flash the wlan.prx from that back onto your PSP,
8. If your using .83 or newer and you cant find the .ini in the Windoze folder, just run the program and close it and it should be there.
9. LAG FIX-If your router is set in mixed mode ( If it puts out 802.11 b, g, and n at the same time) Change it to as close to just g as possible.
10.LAG FIX-Change your video bit rate to 100 and your audio bit rate to 64.
11. Make sure you aren't using security past WPA like WPA-PSK. PiMPStreamer only works with WEP and WPA. (If you are using 3.40 OE then I think you are out of luck with WPA for some reason. Check pimpware.org frequently for an update to fix that addresses this problem)
12. I get the "Could not load PSP_NET_MODULE_COMMON" error! Gohereand read.
13. Try a different GAME folder ( GAME150, GAME, GAME3XX ) On 3.x put the old (pre <0.90) PiMPStreamer in a GAME150 folder. 0.90 and up go in to GAME.
14. LAG FIX-Make sure the WiFi PowerSave option OFF in System Settings.
15. LAG FIX-Change PiMPstreamers CPU Priority to highest. this can be done by hitting CTRL+ALT+Delete, going to the Processes tab, right-click on PiMPStreamer.exe, click Set Priority, then click High.
16. I followed your whole damn tutorial and tried all the fu*king troubleshooters and the stupid program still doesn't work ! ! ! Try upgrading/downgrading to custom firmware 3.03 OE. As far as I am concerned, that is the best, most compatible overall custom firmware. I didn't loose any features that I know of, and if I did, they must not have been very important since I am not missing anything I used, plus, you dont have to convert half of all the themes available to work with 3.40 and above.
Here are some Quetions people have emailed me that have been resolved.
1.Q-
Hello,
ive fw 2.80 with tiff eloader installed. so i downloaded psphost and
pimpstreamer in the versions u listed on ur site.
i started psphost prepared the settings for wifi and minimized it...
now i edited the ini of pipmstreamer and added the local ip of my
computer where the movies are on.
i started pimpstreamer and minimized it.
now i started pimpstreamer on my psp.. it starts good and the folders
of my choice were listed... now i pressed "x" on the folder were my movies are in
and the psp says "Current stream directory: "\C:\mov"
nothing more! seconds later the psp shuts down.
what can i do? please help me!
1.A-Here is a POSSIBLE fix for your problem. Go onto the Windoze folder on
your PC and copy the output.avi and paste it into mso:\PSP\Video and
attempt to run PiMPstreamer one more time. Please Email me back with your results
(REPLY)-It works great! Thank you for your help. Maybe u can put this "little"
information into your tutorial :D
2.Q-Hello,
I stumbled upon your PIMPStreamer Tutorial guide.
I can get PIMPStreamer running on my pc and psp, however, while the
movie is playing back, I experience choppiness. I was wondering if you have
experienced the same problem as well. I've tried changing the encoding size
(both video and audio) which result in a noticeable change in
quality, but it doesn't help decrease the stuttering. I am using v.75.
I ran the connection test at the begining and am getting an
avg speed of 227555 bytes/sec. I've tried using v.63 like your site suggests,
but I still get the same stuttering problem.
2.A-Please navigate back to my tutorial and take a look at Troubleshooting-tips #s 6, 9, 10, 14, and 15With all five of those, everyone should be able to fix any lag issues they have no matter how crappy their computer or router ( or both ) are. 3.Q-Hey I recently got PiMP Streamer and for the longest time couldnt get it to work....I would connect running the 0.90 but when i loaded a movie or song file all i got was Loading... then Error: (no error specified) the PSP would lock up from
there. If i tried the sub the connections would freeze on 2 of 4
(my PSP is DAXs 3.30 OE I just tried switching my security type on my router to
WEP and i got it to work but my mom's laptop wont connect on WEP for some
reason so i had to change it back and I really want this to work. Under my router
the Security mode is WPA Personal with the algorithim TKIP is that compatible?
Or is there any way to make it work? Much help would be appreciated! 3.A-Hmm...all I can say is to check Troubleshooting-tip # 11 on my tutorial near the bottom of the page.I have more resolved questions saved up but i think that enough for now. I will eventually have 'em all up some time.Want to stream LIVE TV to your PSP, not just movies? Then check out my PMPVLC Tutorial to find out step by step.PIC WILL BE HERE SOON
